West Coast Classics are proud to present an absolutely exceptional example of this second generation 1965 Chevrolet Corvair 2 door Monza Hardtop with it's original upgraded 164/140HP 6 cyl 'Corsa' engine with the 4 carburetors matched to an automatic transmission and restored in striking 'Silver Pearl Metallic' color paint with a Red interior bucket seats & trim & Chevrolet Rally wheels with the added Monza additions of bucket seats, folding rear seats and additional exterior chrome trim!

This particular example boasts long time California ownership and has been overly restored by this enthusiastic Corvair owner with no expense spared and which has extraordinary two stage 'Silver Pearl Metallic' paintwork with a lot depth and which was obviously beautifully blocked, better than factory original, and with all the gaps fitting perfectly! The car has no signs of any accidents and still has its original spare wheel in the trunk. The car drives magnificently and must be seen and driven to be fully appreciated!

The Chevrolet Corvair Monza was a design triumph from the Bill Mitchell era and was the first postwar car other than the Corvette to boast fully independent rear suspension. These second generation Corvair's (1965-69) had overcome the bad publicity and handling problems of the earlier generation (1960-64) and also boasted upper and lower control arms and coil springs (even Corvette lacked the latter) which once and for all banished any handling ills completely and although the second generation 1965 Corvair was received as a well-engineered high performance driver's car, that accomplishment was overshadowed by the phenomenal market success of the Ford Mustang and the infamous 1965 publication of "Unsafe at Any Speed" by Ralph Nader which sullied the reputation of the Corvair line even though the issues from the earlier generation had nothing to do with the 1965-69 models. Journalist David E. Davis, in a 2009 article in Automobile Magazine, criticized Nader for purportedly focusing on the Corvair while ignoring other contemporary vehicles of the era with swing-axle rear suspensions including cars from Porsche, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen.

Although still somewhat underappreciated today these second generation 1965-69 Corvair Monza models are now increasingly collectible and highly regarded amongst enthusiasts and make a great entry level classic from the Bill Mitchell era with this particular example with the upgraded 'Corsa' 140HP engine being about as fine an example as one could hope to find anywhere!

In summary, this is one rare and wonderful opportunity to a own a very well sorted and therefore collectible example of a remarkably over restored second generation 1965 Corvair Monza 2 Door Hardtop in striking 'Silver Pearl Metallic' paint & an equally striking 'Red' interior in turn-key ready condition to drive away today!
