218 cid inline six-cylinder engine, 95 HP, three-speed manual transmission, front independent coil springs, rear semi-elliptic leaf springs, four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes, rear-wheel drive; wheelbase: 117

Introduced in 1928, the four-cylinder Plymouth model was meant to compete with the lower priced Fords and Chevrolets. By no means was it a radically designed vehicle, but it incorporated hydraulic brakes, full-pressure lubrication, and aluminum pistons, a combination that its rivals would not be able to match at the time. Like almost all American automakers, Plymouth continued production up to the start of WWII. Once the U.S. emerged successful from the war, Plymouth went to market with a slightly revised version of their 1942 model. The post-war models were designated P15 and would be offered as a Deluxe and top-of-the-line Special Deluxe. Both models shared the same 117-inch wheelbase and 218-cubic-inch engine, but the Special Deluxe offered a better trim and appearance package.

This dark red 1948 Plymouth Special Deluxe Convertible is nicely optioned and sports an older restoration. Relatively unchanged since 1946, the 1948 models were a huge success with their beautiful post-war styling and power-operated convertible tops. Its exterior styling is enhanced thanks to the optional equipment, which includes dual spotlights, fog lights, and front and rear extended bumper guards. During the restoration, the interior also benefitted from a re-upholstery in a fine red faux leather and cream cloth that complements the door panels and dash. The 218 cid six-cylinder engine is sorted and backed by a three-speed manual transmission with column mounted shifter which combines to create 95 horsepower. An ideal drop-top for one looking to go on a weekend cruise or afternoon drive, this Special Deluxe Convertible is everything one could want from a post-war American-styled vehicle.
