Red / Red, two tops,
One of only 504 cars built with the 283/250hp fuel injection motor, 4 speed.
Same southern California owner since 1988 until recently acquired.
Ground up restoration.

The car vin #3069 was built on Wednesday January 22nd, 1958. 283/250hp Fuel Injected.
The car has two beautiful restored tops.
Very nice body with bonding strips on San Diego body.

Restored to NCRS specifications by previous owner who was an accountant in San Diego and who was transferred to Australia.

The car then sold to it's most recent owner, prior to our acquiring the car, and who had arranged his purchase in July 1988 through old Corvette restorer Jim Watkins who had worked on the car for the old owner. The car was a "driver" with some later model parts including upholstery, shifter, engine, fan shroud, valve covers, coil, and other smaller items like oil filler and gas tank caps. The fuel injection mounting plate showed it was a fuel car new and the low RPM tach showed it was one of only 504 cars made with the 283/250hp motor.

Colors were 'Signet Red' body with white coves, Red interior & Red hardtop. Soft top frame was restored and a white top fabric was installed. Today each would cost a minimum of $5K each to restore in this condition. The car went through a ground up restoration from 1990-1995. First was by Jim Watkins, then transferred to a team of NCRS experts headed by John Sunda after Jim's passing. The previous owner had joined NCRS several years before purchasing the car and wanted to restore it to original. To that end he studied the NCRS 1959-1960 Judging Manual. Original manual team leader Dan Holstein helped and the Noland Adams Restoration & Technical Guide' gave Peter the knowledge. During the restoration period the owner went to Jim's shop every Saturday to help with grunt labor and learn as much as he could about the car & the restoration process. He was blessed to live in San Juan Capistrano, California with the experts in those days living nearby. Mileage at purchase was approx 53,000, currently 64,145. In 33 years, that's only 1,943 miles per year.
Correct dated #739  block, built to 250 hp FI specifications. Photos of casting & stamp numbers attached.

Heater delete car. The firewall heater delete plate is an original.
'Wonderbar' radio appears original 1958, has been serviced, plays & scans as designed.
Tires are restoration W/W radials Nov 2014 with only 375 miles.
Paint is original 'Signet Red' lacquer with Light Orange peel finish.

Electronic ignition installed in the original 915 distributor, deep throat 160 thermostat, white wall radial tires, contemporary battery.
Both horns are correct & have been rebuilt.

Paul V., a current NCRS expert inspected the car June 28, 2019. A perfectly functioning wiper motor with the correct model part number was noticed to have been replaced. The engine was rebuilt again in 2017 & the FI was serviced, so the car runs smoothly.

In 2021 the engine has all new pistons, rods & bearings, and the crankshaft was re-balanced at a speed shop.
A newly installed electronic ignition replacing the original dual point system.
The original clutch was replaced with a hydraulic one.
The original 283 engines typically leak oil from the rear seal. The seal was replaced with a new synthetic one that eliminated the leak.
The FI unit was serviced at the same time as the engine rebuild, so the engine starts & runs smoothly. Chuck Smith fuel injection & carb service.
Tires are a few years old, maybe 200 miles on them, but look new. Radial wide WW.
The windshield was replaced during the restoration, perfectly clear, no pits or scratches.
The entire interior was restored, and a thermal blanket was installed under the carpet.
