As big as a "Big M" was to be and the last remnant of Dearborn's ambitious mid 1950's expansion into jumbo Lincoln's and of course the Edsel. The platform was unique to Mercury but with all new styling based on massive proportions with longer wheelbases and lower floorpans making for a vast interior space and a huge compound curve windshield. The huge 430 V8 Lincoln engine with 4 Barrel carb was featured in 1959 with the later 1960 model having only a 2 barrel as a faint gesture towards more economy driving! These pricey Park Lanes are now the rarest of all 1late 50's Mercurys and are coveted for their unique all American striking and imposing late 1950's looks!
Mercury's premium top-of-the-line model in '59 boasting a lovely older restoration with the floor boards, trunk and all the typical rust-prone areas are amazingly completely original, solid and rust-free and the car has no signs of any accidents - obviously a garaged and cherished driver since new! The car has a beautiful and professional original specification 'Canton Red over White' repaint and the original 'Red' vinyl interior has also been restored. All the power options are working as they should including all four windows and the power top.
The cars original 'Marauder' 430/345HP 4 BBL V8 engine is extremely strong and powerful and sounds absolutely magnificent and this particular car drives absolutely magnificently - must be driven to be believed - does not miss a beat and purrs like a kitten - drives straight as an arrow with no strange road wobbles, shakes or rattles - a truly remarkable daily driver that will give any modern day car a run for it's money! The push-button transmission shifts smoothly through the gears and the car has four good white-wall tires! Please note that the car also boasts its original spare wheel and jack in the trunk! Recent service work includes all new front & rear wheel cylinders and brakes including the brake master cylinder and a new starter.
