West Coast Classics are proud to present an absolutely exceptional example of this frame off restored 1962 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible by the late renown Corvette restorer& expert Charlie Bacon with a 327cid/340HP V8 'RE' code engine with a 4 barrel Carter carburetor matched to an original close ratio 4 speed manual transmission! The recipient of a frame off restoration from 2013/14 with no expense spared and refinished in 'Roman Red' color paint with a matching Red vinyl interior trim and factory hardtop and with factory steel 15" wheels and original 2 bar knock off wheel covers on bias ply white wall tires.

The car was reportedly purchased new at 'Bob Erskin Chevrolet' of Pomona, CA on 6/12/1962 by its original southern California owner with a 327/c.i. 4 barrel engine, sintered steel racing brakes, a 4 speed manual transmission and a hard top. The soft top option apparently declined due to cost!. The car was restored in 2013/14 by the renown late Charlie Bacon.
He was legendary in the Corvette community both in southern California and throughout the U.S and he restored many C1 and C2 Corvettes. Restoring classic Corvettes had been his hobby since 1963 and he had restored more than 50 of these American Sports Cars and owned over 100 Corvettes during the years. He belonged to the National Corvette Restorers Society, and was very well known and respected in the Corvette hobby community.

This particular example has a 327/340HP engine; date coded correct 3782870 casting # with FII09RE stamped on the engine pad. Bonding strips intact. All new chrome, new body emblems, restored bright work, factory restored gauges, new carpet, dash pad, door panels, seat covers, weather stripping, window felts & windshield rubber. Absolutely no rust. Detailed undercarriage, natural fiberglass floors. Restored hardtop.

The car is the beneficiary of an older frame off restoration and looks extremely striking in it's repainted 'Roman Red' color paint with matching color interior and factory hard top. The car must be driven and seen to be truly appreciated - drives straight as an arrow with no strange road wobbles, shakes or rattles - a truly remarkable daily driver that will give any modern day sports car a run for it's money! The 4 speed manual transmission shifts smoothly through all the gears and the temperature always remains cool!

This is a rare opportunity to own a very striking example of a frame-off restored 1962 Corvette and one highly desirable and collectible example of one of the best styling efforts of the decade, a genuine grand touring car in every sense of the word, this last year of the C1 generation Corvette design (1953-62) was the first year that the displacement was increased from 283 ci to 327 ci. and the very last year of the conventional trunks, exposed headlights and solid rear axles; a generation that seemingly increases in value and desirability each year!

This particular car is a fully frame off restored model by renown Corvette enthusiast and restorer Charlie Bacon and is sure to prove a most worthy investment for any Corvette collector or classic American classic muscle car enthusiast!
