The 1965 Chevrolet Impala was an absolute game-changer. Chief designer Irvin Rybicki ditched the old "X" frame for a wider perimeter setup, creating a longer, lower, and wider fastback monster. Gone was the flat nose of '64 replaced by a sleek, aggressive shark-nose profile with curved glass and an unadorned side body. While it kept the iconic quad headlights and triple taillights, the '65 Impala SS stepped into its own as a standalone model.

True SS models from '65 to '67 carried their own unique VIN prefixes (166 or 168) and swapped out the old aluminum trim for a stealthy "blackout" strip beneath the taillights.

Chassis & Body: Swapped the traditional "X" frame for a full-width perimeter frame. Features included a shark-nosed front profile, a higher beltline, a fastback roof, and curved, frameless side glass.

Design Leadership: Styled by GM veteran Irvin Rybicki (who worked under Harley Earl and Bill Mitchell), resulting in a massive, aggressive, and trim-free side profile.

The Impala SS Evolution: From 1964 to 1967, the Super Sport graduated from an appearance package (RPO Z03) to a distinct model with its own VIN prefix (e.g., 166 or 168 for V8 SS models).

SS Visual Identifiers: Substituted the 1962-1964 engine-turned aluminum trim for a rear "blackout" trim strip under the iconic triple taillights, alongside unique SS badging.

Unleash a Legend: The Transformed 1965 Chevrolet Impala SS!

Get ready to turn heads with a true icon of American muscle! The 1965 redesign completely revolutionized the full-size Chevrolet lineup, delivering a car that was longer, lower, wider, and miles ahead of its time.

Masterfully sculpted by legendary GM designer Irvin Rybicki, this '65 masterpiece ditched the flat looks of the past for an aggressive, shark-nosed front end and a sleek fastback roofline. With its unadorned, ultra-clean side profile, curved frameless glass, and a muscular stance built on an all-new full perimeter frame, this car defines classic automotive attitude.

Best of all, this isn't just an appearance package from 1964 to 1967, the Super Sport stood alone as its own elite, separate model! Authenticated by its highly desirable V8 VIN prefix, this true SS swaps out the old aluminum trim for a stealthy, sinister rear "blackout" strip running right beneath those iconic triple taillights. Complete with exclusive Super Sport badging and premium interior styling, this rare beauty bridges the gap between pure luxury and asphalt-shredding performance.
