These new RT4 models feature a dropped foot box and a redesigned seat to help accommodate a taller driver. This 4th revision of the iconic 'Backdraft Cobra' roadster gives the occupants more cockpit space, more legroom, wider seats, along with way better suspension and handling and providing the most comfortable cabin available in any Cobra. This iconic Backdraft Cobra RT4 427R reportedly puts out an impressive 550HP and features the most advanced chassis design factory built with exceptional engineering, manufacturing and construction standards with only the best components to deliver stellar performance, comfort and handling.
This well-equipped 427 Cobra roadster is the all new RT4 by the respected firm Backdraft Racing of Florida. The RT4 chassis introduced a number of improvements over the RT3, most notably in the BMW M3-inspired independent rear suspension that provides excellent handling characteristics. This RT4 shows just 353 miles from new, and is beautifully finished in 'Guardsman Blue with Wimbledon White stripes'. It is powered by the Iconic 427S engine matched to a 5-speed Tremec T-5 transmission. Options include a 3.55 Traction-lock diff, the Big and Tall package which improves cockpit space, power steering, leather dash, full-body paint protection film, vintage race package, and more.
The Backdraft RT4 CLASSIC EDITION Roadster has been extensively developed and refined over many years as a race proven, high performance sports car. With 1960s styling and the use of a modern independent suspension it provides the ultimate in styling and drivability with a multilink rear suspension with a coil over shock absorber and a 3.55 Ford Super 8.8 differential with ventilated rear discs measuring (315 x 21mm), and MacpPherson style front coil over strut. The strut assembly is ride height adjustable and springs can be changed to alter the ride from sport to race. The strut is bolted to the spindle which carries the ventilated front disc (330 x 28mm) The RT4 model comes completed with a chrome finish to for a traditional, classic look.
The fiberglass bodywork exterior details include a hood scoop, a Le Mans-style fuel filler, glass wing windows, a chrome roll hoop and quick-jack points, and side exhaust pipes with heat shields. The 18 Halibrand-style wheels are secured by three-eared knock-off spinners retained by safety wire and are wrapped in Goodyear eagle tires measuring 245/40 up front and 295/40 out back.
The cabin houses seats trimmed in Black leather along with color-coordinated carpets and Backdraft Racing floor mats. Amenities include flip-down sun visors, map pockets in both door panels, and Sabelt multi-point harnesses. The car was optioned with the Big and Tall package, which includes wider seats and a recessed driver-side floor. A wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of instrumentation that consists of an 8k-rpm tachometer, a 180-mph speedometer, and auxiliary displays. The digital odometer indicates 353 miles.
