This is a rare opportunity to own a beautifully restored and upgraded with desirable options 1966 Pontiac GTO 2 Door Hardtop Coupe in very fine condition throughout and as probably as close to as pristine an example as you can hope to find and as any muscle car enthusiast with tell you, this 1966 Pontiac GTO is one very rare and highly desirable and collectible example of one of the outstanding GM muscle car designs of the sixties.

The GTO option package for the Tempest created a new type of vehicle by shoehorning a big block engine into a medium sized car - the muscle car,  starting a trend lasting almost ten years before the fuel crisis of 1973! With it's lightweight body and 348 horses under the hood, the GTO was unlike any other car at the time. The 389 cubic inch V8 with the Tri-Power set up is the centerpiece of the GTO package and with the legendary Tri-Power of three two barrel carburetors it boasted 360 bhp.

All first generation GTO's have a special place in collector's hearts as the first of the muscle car species and enjoy milestone status, if not the all time fastest! Tri-Power equipped 2 Door Hardtop coupes seem to have a special aura among enthusiasts too. It was amazing how much torque the GTO had for an essentially stock six-passenger car and it became a legend in it's own time. The GTO could accelerate from 0-60 in under 7 seconds - a quite remarkable feat in it's day and even today! The biggest advantage was it's weight, some 300lbs lighter than most later muscle cars, made this beast very quick off the line.

In summary, this is one unique opportunity to own a turn-key ready to enjoy today 1966 4 speed stick shift 389 V8 Tri-Power GTO with very desirable options which include power steering and power brakes for a thoroughly modern drive! A splendid example of this increasingly desirable and collectible 1966 Pontiac GTO and a muscle car investment that's sure to appreciate over the years for any Pontiac enthusiast, classic American sixties car collector or simply any muscle car enthusiast!
