West Coast Classics are proud to present an absolutely exceptional and beautiful example of this highly factory optioned 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396/325HP L35 V8 Convertible built on June 18, 1969, and first sold at 'Hoselton Chevrolet' in Rochester, New York; and one of just 74 L35 Chevelle's built in Canada for 1969.

Having been in its first owners care for more than 34 years, the car received a cosmetic and mechanical restoration in 2008 by only it's second ever owner, a private collector and therefore garage-kept during its whole life. This factory SS also comes with GM of Canada documentation. The factory SS396 Equipment Option Group Package included the 396 V8 engine, special domed hood, black accented grille, power disc brakes, Super Sport wheels, Wide-Oval tires, wheel opening moldings, bright engine accents and special chassis features and with this particular car ordered with the additionally desirable added factory options of; power steering, power disc brakes, power convertible top, SS wheels, tilt steering, SS tach & gauges and a center console with floor shifter and bucket seats!

Beneath the hood of this remarkable SS lies a matching-numbers 396 CI V-8 rated at 325 HP and 410 lb-ft of twist at the factory. Engine pad number reads T0613JK 191332566 and is dated J 24 8. Turbo 400 automatic transmission and a 12 bolt rear end. Engine upgrades include Edlebrock performer intake and Holley carburetor. Open element air cleaner. New 2 1/2" exhaust. Detailed engine compartment. Runs and drives great.

The 'Red' paint is in excellent condition with only some very minor chip touch up. Newer weather stripping. Re-chromed bumpers. Stainless is in great shape. Newer emblems and front grille. Factory SS wheels with BF Goodrich radial TAs. Detailed under carriage. Nice frame floors and rear quarters. New Parchment interior, including seat covers, door panels and carpet. New dash pad. New white convertible soft top with glass rear window. Factory gauges and radio.

Obviously way fewer SS396-optioned Chevelle's were built than their Malibu counterparts and they are solid gold for collectors. The Super Sport option included a 325-horsepower 396-cubic-inch V8 beneath a double-domed hood, along with a black-out grille displaying an SS emblem and a black rear panel. Even more potent editions of the 396 engine also made the options list, developing 350 or 375 horsepower. From the chrome air cleaner and valve covers, which are a factory correct part off the Z25 SS option, to the Chevy Orange paint on the block and heads, this car's engine compartment is correct and well done. From the finish on the brake booster to the rugged 12-bolt rear end and dual exhausts and other correct components including spiral shocks, sway bars and standard Super Sport power front disc brakes to little things like correct reproduction hoses and clamps, the desirable strato-bucket seats, this is an amazingly stock looking and unmolested original Canadian import car that has many of its original engine components. At the corners, 14-inch Super Sport wheels with correct SS center caps and trim rings carry correct, white letter tires. Above the full width bumper, the black accented Super Sport grille contrasts with the paint to highlight the cars tapered body panels. At the sides of the grille, four correct T3 headlights are connected by a traditional Chevrolet grille bar that features the correct 'SS 396' emblem at the center axis of the car. On the header panel, a chrome 'Chevelle by Chevrolet' emblem complements chrome louvers on the SS specific domed hood and excellent looking stainless trim. At the sides of the car, sit pristine 'SS 396' front fender emblems and chrome trimmed front and rear marker lights. It has the 3 speed automatic transmission with a 12 bolt posi rear end. It has power brakes with front disk & power steering. As previously stated this particular car does have its original matching #'s factory 396 Big Block engine and the car will be sold with GM of Canada documentation!

As 'Road Test' magazine correctly stated, "The SS package made the Chevelle worthy of notice by any serious motorist and permits the available power to be utilized with safe handling and braking". Correct SS options include round dash gauges, F41 suspension, front disc brakes, rear bumper pad, bright engine accents, dual exhausts with bright tips, black accented grille, wheel opening moldings, special domed hood, special chassis features including SS emblems on the grille, fenders, rear bumper, 17x7 Rally Wheels with raised white letter tires, SS steering wheel and door trim! This particular example is body style 3667 and an authentic 2 door Super Sport Convertible with its original big block 396 L35 engine. The trim tag or data plate is also correctly riveted on the top of the cowl on the drivers side.

The car was loaded with original factory options including:

The car was reportedly purchased by its original owner at 'Hoselton Chevrolet' of Rochester, NY and owned until the early 2000's by it's original owner and obviously always garaged with no signs of any accidents. The car received a cosmetic and mechanical restoration by only it's second owner, a private collector in 2008 and has been garage kept it's entire life.

The Chevelle SS combined Chevrolets largest engines with its midsize car to give outrageous results. The squarer lines gave SS Chevelles the stance of a street tough. This particular cars original SS factory option package included the F41 special performance suspension package with stiffer front springs to compensate for the weight of the big block engine, a black finished grille, a left hand remote control sport rearview mirror, Super Sport SS emblems, power front disc brakes, dual exhausts to optimize the engines performance, bucket seats with a center console and floor shifter, and wide wheels and tires on 5 spoke Magnum 500 steel SS wheels.

The car was repainted in 'Red' with a 'White' sport side stripe and is in exceptional condition, as it the whole car. The original Parchment color interior has been beautifully restored and the car boasts no signs of any rust or accidents, obviously an always garaged and cherished driver, not an abused older muscle car! This car must be seen to be believed and driven to be fully appreciated - the L35 396 Big Block V8 engine is extremely strong and responsive with excellent oil pressure and no oil leaks and which sounds absolutely magnificent, the transmission shifts smoothly through the gears and the engine temperature always remains cool and the car will be sold with original GM of Canada documentation.

In summary, this is one very fine example of this highly desirable and collectible muscle car a beautiful 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Factory Super Sport Big Block 396/325HP V8 car loaded with factory options in rare turn-key ready daily appreciating, daily driving and daily head-turning condition!
